My first amateur
radio license was issued in 1956 with the call sign KN9IDU. I upgraded in
1957 to General Class and my call was changed to K9IDU. In those days the
"N" was for Novice and you dropped the "N" when you passed your General exam.
I was licensed in the 70's in Iowa as W0PUL and when I moved to the state of
Georgia I received N4OJW before upgrading to Extra Class and choosing the extra
class call W9VJ.
My transceiver is a Kenwood TS-2000 which I very much enjoy using.
My antenna is a Mosley TA-34XL tribander at a height of 62 feet (20 meters).
For 12, 17, 30, 40, 80 and 160 I'm using a B&W BWD90 (180 ft of wire) Folded
Dipole supported at the 50 ft level on my tower. I'm quite impressed
with how well it performs and how broad banded it is. (Antenna picture below.)
